Aussie Curves - Metallic

At first thought this challenge seemed really easy...until I looked in my wardrobe.  I'm really not sure what my wardrobe consists of, but it has very little metallic! So I decided go to with 'metal' for the most part:

My lace baby doll dress is by Praslin from New Look, bolero from Pagani (it's very old!), tights from Farmers, boots from City Chic (last season) and necklace from Diva.

I love this dress and haven't had a chance to wear it yet.  It still had the tag on when I wore it here!

The top of the dress is a really pretty lace overlay with black jersey underneath.  The silvery white creates a metallic finish, especially under lights.

This fabric flower is detachable and can be worn as a brooch or even a hair piece.

These boots changed my life when I bought them from City Chic last year.  I had never before owned long boots and to find some that fit my calves was truly a happy moment!  They have 3 buckles up the sides so can be adjusted to fit nearly any calf.  I really feel like a lady in these boots.

My necklace was another never-worn an now that I've put it on I'm going to make an effort to incorporate it into more outfits.  Just a cheapy from Diva, but pretty and I love the tiered length.

Finally, I finished the look with a metallic manicure.  I am a nail polish fiend and now have around 50 bottles.  The purple colour is from the Orly 2011 Holiday Collection and is probably my second favourite colour ever after OPI's My Private Jet.  The gold accent nail is Bling Dynasty from the OPI Hong Kong collection.

Aussie Curves - Boho

When I saw that this week's theme was Boho, I almost decided to skip it!  But then I realised that it would be a bit stupid to skip my second blog post, so I made an attempt.  My body shape and personal taste doesn't really lend itself to long, flowy, billowy things and I don't own any maxi dresses or floaty tops but here is what I put together:

I recently bought this tunic from a friend and while I don't think I would wear it as a tunic, it will be handy to wear over my togs.  Its from City Chic and I paired it with black leggings.

I really like the embroidered neck detail!

Along with the tunic and leggings, I chose these cute little faux-suede ankle boots which I picked up for $15 at Kmart.  They're very hard to pull on but super warm, even warmer than my leather boots in winter.

These beads are my favourite part of this outfit, they were made for me by a workmate about 7 or 8 years ago and they go with so many outfits.  Every time I wear them I get lots of compliments.

I think I can safely say that Boho will never become my default style, but hey, I gave it a go!  Take a look at the other Boho blogs from this week here:

Aussie Curves - Feminine

Considering this is my first post for Aussie Curves, the theme of 'Feminine' could not be more perfect! I am a life long girly girl (as my blog name would rightly suggest!) so pretty much anything I have in my wardrobe would fit the bill. However the outfit I chose is one I adore but do not wear very much. The overall effect is very 1950's!

The photo is not the best quality as my husband borrowed my camera but didn't charge it, so a phone camera had to suffice this week!  My dress is the Lovebirds Dress from City Chic, I love it so much but the ivory base colour is not easy to style!  Also, in true CC fashion, the bow belt pops open at random so is not the most practical option.  My cardigan is also City Chic, this gets quite a lot of wear in spring and summer.  The ballet flats are another favourite, I wore them on my wedding day once the matching heels got too ouchy!  They're from Forever New.

The back of my cardi is the cutest!  Polka dots and lace are the ultimate in girly goodness.

I'm just wearing my usual daytime makeup here, a mixture of MAC and Revlon.  The necklace was borrowed from a friend years ago and never returned...oops!

Close ups of embellishments - pearl flower earrings from New Look, flower buttons on the cardi, crystal and pearls on my shoes and the troublesome pink bow belt!

Instagram - my new obsession!

I'm  known by many as a 'late adopter' of trends, especially those of a technological nature.  My Mum knew what an mp3 player was (and owned one) a long time before I did...shame, girl! So last year when I signed up to instagram I assumed it was a photo editing app and that was it.  A year later I have finally discovered what all the fuss is about and I have to admit I'm a little addicted - so many cat pictures, so little time!
